Sonia Adeva, from the University of Alcalá, is researching how to use AI and games to teach Spanish to foreign students.
She has created an escape room called The Time Travellers, where students practise past tenses while moving through different historical periods.
AI helps teachers save time and personalise learning. The activity was tested with 24 students and worked well, although some found the digital part more challenging.
The research also highlights the importance of using AI carefully, checking information, and protecting personal data. This approach could also be applied to other languages.
